Shocking video footage has emerged showing a paramedic viciously beating a female patient in a hospital in Linli county, central China’s Hunan Province. A surveillance camera captured the patient continuously knocking at the door of the paramedic’s room in an attempt to ask for some drinking water. The knocking seemed to anger the paramedic, who rushed out of the room and beat up the defenseless woman brutally. After the video was posted online it quickly went viral and there has been ongoing criticism of the paramedic by netizens. The hospital has responded by saying that the patient, who was diagnosed with a mental disorder, had verbally cursed the paramedic causing the attack, and the paramedic, who was a temporary member of staff, has been dismissed following the incident.
